What is colored enamel tinted glass?
Mixie colored glass jars have a painted enamel tint applied to the exterior of each jar. Enamel is not applied to interior of jar.
This makes the coloring process more efficient and cost effective.
Due to the nature of the manufacturing process, subtle variations in the tint may occur, these variations may show slightly darker or lighter coloring in areas when filled with a light colored substance such as candle wax or creams.
Please Note: The actual glass itself is not colored.
Are Mixie jars and lids dishwasher safe?
Dishwasher is not recommended. Hand washing is best and the preferred method.
Are Mixie jars food safe?
Yes, Mixie jars are food safe. Coloring is applied to outside of jar only.
Do Mixie jars come with lids?
No, we offer our Mixie lids separately so you can customize your look.
How are Mixie jars packaged?
Each case of 12 Mixie jars are packed in a reusable carton with molded foam padding for secure shipping. This is perfect packing to reship case pack orders to your clients and will save you money on additional packaging in the long run.
Are Mixie jars safe for candle making?
Yes, this is one of the most commonly used jars for candle making.
Please use common sense when using the Mixie jar for candle making. Always put Mixie jar on heat safe surface, at no time directly on furniture. Never burn a candle all the way to the base of the jar, discontinue burning when 1/2" of wax remains in the container.
Is it OK to leave liner in the lid when making candles?
No, we highly suggest you remove the lid liner for making candles especially for resale. Liner could melt or catch fire if lid is used to extinguish a burning candle.
Why do I have wet spots in my jars when I make candles in them?
"Wet spots" naturally occur due to changes in temps as the wax expands and contracts due to its surrounding temps. Part of the candle making journey is testing different waxes, oils, and temperatures. Figure out what works best for you and run with it!
We have noticed a very large reduction in "wet spots" by waiting several days after candle is poured then going back and using a heat gun to start melting the sides of jar from bottom to the top of jar. As the wax melts you will see very small air bubbles that were trapped begin to rise to the top. Heat until all bubbles have risen. You might need to reheat tops of candle to get a nice smooth finish when this process is completed. This is an extra step but really seems to help. Remember candle making is trial and error, have fun with it!
Can I reposition a label without damaging the finish?
Yes & No, it depends on the adhesive of the label.
Stronger adhesives can pull the painted finish off while weaker ones remove with no damage at all.
We highly suggest using a label jig to get the perfect placement every time.
